In search of a spinning wheel

November 16, 2010

Two years ago, I started my spinning adventure (I started learning to spin). I went to a society of creative anacronism event called Southern. At this event I learned to spin on a drop spindle. After my drop spindle class, I had been given a drop spindle from my spinning teacher. After using a drop spindle for a month, I discovered that it was a very slow process to make any amount of  yarn. I started considering buying a spinning wheel after I had tried a spinning wheel, at a local Celtic festival. I searched far and wide on the internet (for 2 years) and finally, I found one! I found it  on craigslist, its an ashford traditional (that has everything), for a steal! I will get it December 3!! I am so excited. Here is a picture of an ashford traditional:

This leads me to a new announcement. Next year (maybe even when I get my spinning wheel) I shall dub Monday or Wednesday spinning day.
